BOTE Inflatable Vest PFD

The BOTE Inflatable Vest PFD is a unique design that keeps kayakers, anglers, boaters, and other paddlers safe without compromising movement. The below video and instructions will demonstrate the basic steps for arming and using your BOTE Inflatable Vest PFD. For more information and detailed instructions please refer to the manual included with your new PFD.

How to Use the Inflatable Vest PFD

Arming Your PDF Vest: Auto-Inflation Mode

  1. To Auto Inflate secure the yellow bobbin and clear cap for auto-inflation mode.

  2. Inspect the CO2 cylinder face for no holes. This indicates that the cylinder has not been used.

  3. Install the cylinder into the inflator and turn clockwise until secure.

  4. Velcro the outer cover of the Vest PFD shut.

Arming Your PDF Vest: Manual Mode

  1. To Manually Inflate remove the clear cap and bobbin and add the manual inflation cap.

  2. Inspect the CO2 cylinder face for no holes. This indicates that the cylinder has not been used.

  3. Install the cylinder into the inflator and turn clockwise until secure.

  4. Ensure the manual warning label is visible if using in manual mode.

  5. Check that the green indicator clip is firmly attached to the inflator.

  6. Velcro the outer cover of the Vest PFD shut.

Wearing Your Vest PFD

  1. InsertArms into vest so it lays over your shoulders. The inflation pouch should be facing forward on and on your chest.

  2. Buckle the vest and adjust to a comfortable fit.

Activating & Deploying Your Vest PFD: Auto-Inflation Mode

  1. Auto-Inflation occurs when the bobbin and clear cap come into contact with water. This will cause the PFD to deploy automatically.

  2. Inflate Orally to add additional air to your PFD. Open the top portion of the inflation tube and blow air into tube until PFD is firm.

Activating & Deploying Your Vest PFD: Manual Mode

  1. To Inflate grasp the "Jerk to Inflate" pull tab and pull sharply downward.

  2. Inflate Orally to add additional air to your PFD. Open the top portion of the inflation tube and blow air into tube until PFD is firm.

Storing & Rearming Your Vest PFD

  1. To Deflate press down on the oral tube while squeezing the PFD to release the air.

  2. Tightly Roll the PFD into the vest and velcro shut once again.

  3. To Rearm follow the steps for either auto-inflation or manual inflation depending on your preferences and needs.
    Note: CO2 cylinders are single-use and must be replaced once used. BOTE recommends always having a spare rearming kit available for your PFD.
