RECAP: The Orange Bowl Paddle Championship

RECAP: The Orange Bowl Paddle Championship

BOTE Boards made it way down South to Miami for The Orange Bowl Paddle Championship, presented by one of our leading dealers, Blue World Paddle, Surf, & Skate. BOTE was also a sponsor of the event and our presence could not be missed. The Orange Bowl Paddle Championship used to be one of the can't-miss race events sheduled in January, conveiently after one of the industry's largest trade shows, Surf Expo in Orlando, FL. The date of the event may have changed, but it certainly did not derail the excitement or turnout and remains a can't miss event! The 2015 Orange Bowl Paddle Championship was one to remember. Blue World Paddle, Surf & Skate is not only one of our biggest BOTE dealers, but this year's presenting sponsor. The event was held at the Miami Marine Statium on Key Biscayne, FL and the weather and conditions could not have been better. BOTE was there to sponsor the event and represent The DarkRoom. There was an 8.6 Elite race rounding the historic Virginia Key, and a 2.5 mile Recreational Race.

The Official DarkRoom board results:

BOTE Ambassador and Director of the DarkRoom Pete Buzzelli took FIRST in the Elite 14' over 50 on his hand and custom made 14' DarkRoom board with a time of 1:34:09.667.

BOTE Ambassador Joey Huempfner took FIRST in the Elite 12'6" under 17 division on his 12'6" DarkRoom Custom board with a time of 1:34:28.076.

John Meskauskas, BOTE Ambassador and owner of Flying Fish Paddle Sports  took 6th in his stacked Elite 12'6" 18-49 division with a time of 1:36:57.242 on a 12'6" DarkRoom board.

Billy Swezey representing Flying Fish Paddle Sports on a 14' DarkRoom board took 6th in the Elite 14' 18-49 division with a time of 1:27:21.143.

Congrats to all of the paddlers, and for full official results of both elite and recreational races, click HERE.

Following the Elite and recreational races, was a fun run Corporate Sponsor BREEZE Race. All of the Corporate Sponsors of the Orange Bowl were able to participate. Each sponsor put up a team of 4 and the goal was to be the first to pump up their board, paddle, and run through an inflatable obstacle course. Needless to say, the sponsors were PUMPED UP to play! It was a great way to bring everyone together, and BOTE was excited to be a part of it.

Thank you Blue World Paddle Surf & Skate for an awesome Orange Bowl Paddle Championship! We are already looking forward to next year!
