BOTE Ambassador and world renowned photographer Sean Murphy gives a quick glimpse about capturing the awesomeness of Stand Up Paddle boarding through his lenses.
Shooting Stand Up Paddle Lifestyle photos is a unique combination of a few things. I think about it as putting sports, rock and roll, fashion, and advertising into a bucket and shaking the shit out of it.
BOTE is a dream situation with a legion of people who make it easy to capture a lifestyle that is beautiful AND hard core at the same time.
First and foremost the key ingredient is a rad group of people to shoot and a scenario that is interesting to look at. I think paddle boarding can tend to look redundant and we are always trying to look for ways to shoot the hero (the paddle board) in a interesting way that people will look at and say "Holy Shit! I didn't know you could do that on a SUP."
Technically, we shoot with a variety of cameras, lighting and underwater housings. It's not as hard as it sounds, though. If you are putting yourself in the middle of the action you are bound to get a great shot. - Sean Murphy
