Rainstorms, shallow waters, and rough currents were only a couple of conditions the Malkowicz brothers endured--But thanks to these adventure-driven brothers, we've been given a glimpse down the Ozark National Scenic Riverways, all while on paddle boards.

BOTE does Black's Island

Black's Island is located in the Florida Panhandle about one mile of the shore off Port St. Joe in St. Joseph Bay. It is the ONLY island in the bay that has any building, people or power on it. The island, owned and operated by Jeff Bowman, has 25 "bungalows" that resemble something from Figi or Bora bora. It is spectacular. Surrounding the island is miles of grass bottom teaming with sea life, from huge sharks to tiny sea scallops. The scallops are what bring people here. Via snorkel and goggles, people can harvest these delicious creatures from the grass beds. It may take a minute or two to acclimate your eyes to spot them on the bottom, but once you do get it, it's like a giant underwater Easter egg hunt.

RECAP: Key West Paddleboard Classic

2015 marked the 18th annual Key West Paddleboard Classic! The Key West Paddleboard Classic is a favorite among paddlers because of it's location, challenging and fun races, as well as it's push to raise money for the Special Olympics. The BOTE team showed up in full force to represent the DarkRoom. With tents, tvs, swag, and a number of brand new custom boards, the BOTE crew showed Key West what BOTE and the DarkRoom was all about!
